Meißen: “The cradle of Saxony and White Gold”

Because of its political significance for the region, the thousand-year-old town on the River Elbe is referred to as the cradle of Saxony. Walk back in history through the lanes of the civic districts up to the Meißen porcelaincastle hill with Meißen Cathedral and the first palace ever built in Germany, the Albrechtsburg. The Blue Swords on Meißen's White Gold made the town known world-wide. During a visit to the Staatliche Porzellanmanufaktur, which has been in existence since 1710, you can see artists at work in demonstration workshops and a wide range of samples in the museum.

Time: 5 hours

Meißen and Moritzburg may be combined in a full-day tour of 8 hours.

"What would art be without Epicurean pleasures?"
Round your visit off with a glass of local wine during a wine tasting or in one of the historical wine taverns in Meißen or Radebeul.
