Erzgebirge Ore Mountains “To the source of
Saxony’s wealth”Following the Saxon Silver Route to the Eastern Ore Mountains you come to Freiberg, the 800-year-old mining town, where you will learn about the "Kidnapping of the Princes" and about the "Bauerhase", a local speciality. Of course you will see the St. Marien Cathedral with its "Goldene Pforte" and the tulip pulpit. If you want to see where Saxony's wealth came from you should join a tour of a visitor mine. Our tour continues to Seiffen, the toy-makers' village near the Czech border. Marvel at the skill of carvers and hoop turners making smoking men, angels and pyramids in a demonstration workshop. See the world-famous Seiffen church in the original and take a wooden miniature model of it home as a memento, surrounded by little choirboys. Time: 8 hours |
